Man strives to feel free. When you ski off-piste through the glistening snow in winter and watch the magical winter landscape pass you by, then you know what freedom feels like. It is something completely different to ski or snowboard through high-alpine deep-snow descents than on the usual slopes. A must for everyone who loves snow and would like to experience an adventure. Montafon is a pioneer when it comes to freeride routes.
If you have no experience with freeriding, we recommend that you take part in safety training or a guided freeride ski tour. At the Freeride Adventure Day you can meet like-minded people and experience a day with a full program. Here are a few recommended runs.
At the Kreuzjoch on the Golm, which can be reached via the Rätikonbahn, there are a few easy freeride routes far away from the crowds. A great opportunity for beginners to get to know skiing in high powder snow.
There is a moderately difficult freeride run in the Silvretta Montafon from the Hochalpila Bahn to Galgenul. This terrain is relatively wide and therefore offers plenty of space for all kinds of freeride activities. The return to the starting point is now easily possible via the Grasjoch cable car.
There are no particularly difficult slopes on the Kristberg. Beginners in particular can collect and practice their first freeriding experiences here. The freeride area is small and manageable. Perfect for taking a relaxed lap in the deep snow, without any major stress all around.
